Texas Haunts – Haunted House And Halloween News and Reviews

Swizzle Tiki Bar

Swizzle Tiki Bar in Lowest Greenville is celebrating Halloween all month long with crafted Halloween drinks, Halloween decorations covering the entire place, and horror movies playing on a TV over the bar. Owners Joseph and Jen clearly love this holiday and Swizzle has Halloween spirit to spare.

Attention to detail is seen in both the drinks and the food. All of the specialty drinks are Instagram worthy, and they have a pretty extensive food menu, specializing in Polynesian dishes. I tried the Q.B Cooler, plus Halloween drinks All Tunnel, No Light, Eye of the Spider, and Harlequin. The O.B. Cooler is strong enough to be limited to 2 per person, and yet it is tasty. All Tunnel, No Light, Harlequin, and Eye of the Spider have a pleasant smoky aftertaste. All of the drinks were strong, so you get your money’s worth. The drinks menu has a convenient rating system that gives you an idea of how strong each drink is. Visual presentation of the drinks is great. My server Nicole did a great job of helping me pick drinks from the Halloween menu. On my next stop I will try Strangers Blood and Ghost of XMAS Past.

I was lucky to arrive just before the kitchen closed for the night. Loco Moco, a beef dish in brown gravy with an egg on top, went well with my drinks. The adventurous menu is pretty unique in Dallas, and has a couple of dishes that feature Spam. Pupu platters, handheld food, various rice bowls, curry, and stir fry are among the offerings. Desserts are Dole Whip, fried sweet, sugary Hawaiian rolls, and a banana filled lumpia.

Swizzle has several areas to choose from for seating. A nicely decorated patio outside the front entrance is ideal for cooler nights. Two alcoves in the back of Swizzle offer privacy. The bar itself is beautifully decorated and yet cozy. There are several larger tables available in middle of Swizzle.

Beachcomber Happy Hour is Monday-Friday from 4-6. Cocktail specials are $5, wells are $3, and beer is $1 off. There are also discounts on select menu items. Additionally, Monday is $5 Mai Tai Monday, and Tuesday is Tiki Tuesday with $5 frozen drinks and Dole Whips.

I was generously given the opportunity to attend the first paranormal investigation of Swizzle. The event began at midnight, and was hosted by Claudelia Zarate, with her friends Samantha and Oscar. This was a an interesting investigation, and it appears that Swizzle has at least one friendly ghost named Charles, and possibly three others. Charles was speaking to Samantha for several minutes while she was on the ground wearing a blindfold. All in all, Claudelia and Company did a great job. They were very professional, informative, and entertaining. The spirits at Swizzle are good natured, so you can relax and enjoy your October nights at Swizzle, with the possibility of a paranormal surprise.

A Boolesque show is coming up at Swizzle on October 26. Tickets are here and the show begins at 7.

I highly recommend Swizzle! Great food and drinks, and it’s easily the best Halloween experience I’ve had this season.

Check out the pics below information. Keep in mind that I took these close to closing time, and just before the paranormal investigation began.
