Phantom's Ghost Ranch is located on the access road of northbound US 75 between Stacy Road and highway 5. If you're coming from the south, take the Stacy Rd exit and look for the spotlight. Phantom's features a haunted house and a hayride as the primary attractions, with a pumpkin patch, food vendor, and a psychic as well.
The main house has more rooms and scenes per square foot than any haunt I can think of. The house is large and the use of space is superb. There are lots of interesting props and art (my favorites are in the gothic parlor and the clown area) but the actors are the best part of the haunt. The clown on stilts, Junior the butcher, and his girl were my favorites, although all of the actors were good and pursued throughout their areas.
In Phantom's haunted house you'll find the following: a gothic parlor, a large clown area, a spinning tunnel, a sheet maze, a door and dead end maze, the largest spider room I've seen, Junior's area (butcher), a spotted room with two big surprises, a toxic waste area, and chainsaws. As I mentioned, Phantom's has a lot packed into it's house. I went through with a couple of guys from another haunted house and we all agreed that Phantom's is excellent. It's difficult to choose one favorite room/area so I'll choose several, not in order: the door maze, Junior's, the spotted room, and the clowns.
Phantom's also has a hayride and it's a long one. The length of the ride is over a mile on a twisting trail. The hayride lasts for about 25 minutes. Beginning in an open field, the ride travels through a cornfield and then into dense woods. Along the way you'll encounter ghost riders on horseback, scarecrows, a spider infested area, witch burning, a huge graveyard and barn, and lots of angry creatures. The barn and the graveyard were my favorites, but the entire trip through the woods was great. A narrator/guide rides with you and explains the legend of the trail as you travel. This is one of only three hayrides in the north Texas area and is outstanding. You really need to experience the hayride along with the house and the combo ticket ($26 with discount coupons available at area businesses) is the way to go.
I had a great time at Phantom's and I highly recommend it. Be sure to try both the haunted house and the hayride, they go together for a complete Halloween experience.
